TBA Speakeasy, 59 Dublin Street

taylorfest speakeasy

A restored 17th Century coaching in at 59 Dublin Street becomes a prohibition era Speakeasy and the official festival club for the duration of Taylorfest. Recently emerging as a screening room and performing arts space,  the former wine and dry goods store was launched as fully licensed venue by director Lenny Abrahamson in June this year and has since featured performances by The Holy Roman Army and storyteller, Coilín ÓhAiseadha.

On Friday TBA Speakeasy presents Billy O Hanluain who worked as a resident DJ in Dublin’s Sin E for seven years, running the Silver Cloud Lounge Club, playing Jazz, Funk and Soul. He is Jazz correspondent for RTE’s Arts Tonight and he’ll be diggin’ deep into his vinyl collection for Cotton Club Classics and Prohibition era Jazz.
Time to get your Jive Ass slippers and boas out and have a Bootleggin’ good time.

On Saturday TBA Speakeasy will feature local Jazz duo of guitarist David Ayers and upright bassist Ken Nolan playing authentic Prohibition era tunes. The boards of the old shop will be creaking to the syncopated sounds Fats Waller, Hoagy Carmichael, Jelly Roll Morton and many more.
